300-hr AyurYoga Teacher Training

Begins February 2017

with Amanda Montovan And Jule Harle

This 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training program is an advanced program designed for individuals who have already completed a 200 hour program OR have experience practicing and/or teaching yoga.  This program will explore Ayurveda and how to integrate it into your yoga practice or teaching style.  Expect to grow professionally as you enhance your skills as a Yoga teacher, and personally as you advance in your own personal practice and lifestyle routines. Together we will create a community dedicated to supporting each other as we undergo a deeply rich exploration of the practice and philosophy of Yoga.

Yoga (and sister science, Ayurveda) are pre-Hindu philosophies and metaphysical sciences from the Indian sub-continent. These philosophies emphasize developing self-awareness (looking within) along with seeking knowledge (looking without) for personal growth. Indian mythology, manifestation of creation, reincarnation and karma will be discussed. Participants must be willing o explore these concepts in class and will be encouraged only to adopt practices that resonate with their inner feelings. All participants are expected to be respectful toward each other’s spiritual beliefs and failure to do so may be cause for dismissal from the programs.

Emphasis will be placed on:

  • Foundations of Ayurveda

  • Uniting Yoga & Ayurveda: Yoga and the Doshas

  • Advanced Physical & Energetic Anatomy

  • Advanced Principles of Alignment

  • Artful Sequencing and Creative Expression

  • Teaching Yoga to Every Body

  • The Sanskrit Language

  • Nature Based Yoga

  • Intentional Living

  • Yoga as a Transformational Practice

  • Yoga and Religion

  • Becoming a Transformational Teacher

This 300 hour yoga teacher training is Yoga Alliance recognized and AK State approved by the Alaska Commission on Post-Secondary Education.

A 300 hour training is designed to build upon and deepen the trainee’s understanding of the fundamental concepts of teaching yoga that are generally taught at the 200-hour level.

It prepares its trainees to teach principles and techniques of yoga that are more advanced, more detailed, and/or more subtle, and the training enables them to teach with greater skill than could reasonably be expected of a RYT 200.

The 300 hour teacher training will provide the student with skills in teaching that address the specific needs of individuals and special populations, to the degree possible in a mixed group setting.

Students who successfully graduate from this program and are in compliance of YA requirements, including teaching 100 hours of yoga after registration as a RYT 200, will be eligible to register with the Yoga Alliance as a 500 RYT.

Insight Yoga Teacher Training
August 2016 - April 2017

Margi Clifford & Margo Sorum

This is a nine month, 200 Hour Professional Yoga Teacher Training Program for aspiring yoga teachers. Insight Teacher Training was designed to inspire students as they incorporate yoga philosophy, physiology, anatomy, asana (posture), pranayama (breathwork), and meditation into their personal and professional yoga practice. Students will learn the art of observation, adaptation, safe sequencing, and conscious communication. They will develop the ability to assist, and, to address the specific needs of others in a class setting. Instructors will share knowledge derived from advanced training and certification, and from personal and professional experience in order to guide students towards becoming sensitive, skillful, ethical, and well rounded teachers themselves. Students will learn to integrate therapeutic intent and technical skills in the application of yogic principles in both personal and professional endeavors.

This program follows the guidelines, established by The Yoga Alliance, for yoga teacher training programs. It will provide a solid foundation upon which participants may continue to build and develop their professional skills. Instructors will provide encouragement, information, feedback and space for students to develop competence. Students will be asked to commit to home practice and to collaborate with other yoga practitioners by participating in group teaching sessions. Individual consultation and supervision will be available to support personal and professional development as needed. Upon completion, students will receive certification which will allow them to register with the Yoga Alliance as RYT, Registered Yoga Teacher.
